and about this afternoon before the next round of rain moves into the region. let's send it down to gwen tall bart live in the weather. tolbart in the weather center. >> we have some heavy rainfall moving in will across the area. we do need the rain, however. but with it looks like we could possibly see some storms. a quick look at the doppler radar for you. can you see we have rainfall to the east and west. eastern, western virginia. north central maryland seeing a little bit of activity coming through. it is only going to increase as we move into there tonight. 63 at national. we have 64 at dulles and 62 at baltimore. and for tonight, we are talking rain becoming steadier and heavier. with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. overnight low is 63 degrees. a very light north earl wind from 5-10 miles per hour. but it is not over. once we get through tonight. we will have more on that and give you the full five day forecast and when you can expect it to start and end coming up a little bit later. back to you. >> time for the umbrellas, thank you. >>> the investigation exposed holes in bp's

. but other than that, not bad at allm back to you. >> gwen, thank you very much. >>> our top story this morning, new developments in the race for d.c. mayor. >> a new poll shows gray ahead of fenty by 7 points which makes the next few days even more crucial for both candidates. sarah simmons joins us live from the early polling place with more. >> reporter: good morning, allison and tony. like you said, the next days were important. and mayor fenty knows that, as he is behind in the polls, that he is asking for the top man in the country, president barack obama's endorsement. at this point the white house has not said anything. we did hear about it over the last couple of days. now the clarus poll shows gray ahead and he is getting a growing lead over the past few weeks. and it shows if there is high turnout among black voters, fenty might lose this race. but one thing is for sure, both candidates are campaigning really hard just a few days out. the latest poll is more good news for vincent gray whose lead has grown in august since the latest poll. it is the third poll in a week to

school. about age 13 to 18. >> reporter: gwen says self-injury is a growing trend mostly among girls. some have a history of abuse or depression others none at all. >> it could be anybody. these kids are just normal kids. >> reporter: they go to great lengths to hide their behavior making it difficult for parents to discover. >> to look for would be a child that insists on wearing long sleeves or jeans all the time even in warm weather who is very self-conscious and won't even push up their sleeves. some girls go so far as to cut their bellies or the bottoms of their feet in order to avoid detection. >> it's like an addiction once you get into it but the urge never completely goes away. >> reporter: they are proof that even extreme cases can be overcome. now they want to help others. >> as for specifics statistics on how many teens cut themselves there's for very studies that have been done. a study in 2005 surveyed 293 teens of those 195 reported cutting. they hope to create a group so those that are o flicked by this can learn they are not alone. >>> here is what's in the news now.
